After enjoying the first series of the TV adaptation of The Walking Dead I decided to get the first volume of the graphic novel to see what it was like and I immediately noticed a few things. Firstly the art of the novel was awesome and addictive just to look at, secondly although there were a few plot differences the story was still very gripping and finally as I’ve pointed out the novel was definitely different in a very good way it was darker than the show, by which I mean things like character relationships and the story and how the ending of first novel is different from it’s comparative place in the show. As far as I know all of these things are reason enough to want to read more of the novels but it wasn’t until I watched the second season of the show that I got round to buying more of the novels I got volumes 2-6 and in the three days that I’ve had them I’ve finished 2-4 and am part way through 5, these novels are so awesome it’s untrue and I’ve really enjoyed reading them and staring at the art. I have to admit this is my first collection of graphic novels or comics so I don’t know how they stand up against others but I would definitely recommend them to other readers and I would definitely recommend them to fans of the show, without a doubt they are as good as any book I’ve read recently
